By the end of 2007 we retired our D200. The camera was retired with all honours as it has helped us solve many a difficult task. We replaced it with the D300.
When we travel the world, weight and volume are often constraining factors. We chose to invest in the Nikon D200 because it would allow us to get professional results using a relatively small camera. Weighing just 830 g the D200 is really the light weight of its class (compare this with the 1150 g of the D2X).
The D200 has been a trusty companion on really many assignments the past couple of years. It is a camera that is very compact, and for this reason it is very well suited as a backup for our larger work horses the D2Xs and the D2X. The D200 is very user friendly and logical in its construction, it has a delightfully large LCD that can be used for evaluating photos on location.
