A Little Extra Protection When the Elements Rage
Modern camera equipment is quite sturdy. Professional camera housings will function in the driving rain as long as you remember to dry them out thoroughly afterwards. Even so, once in a while we find ourselves working in conditions that are so bad that we simply refuse to run the risk of damaging our equipment. For instance, this could be when we are shooting at wind-swept coast lines and salt water is sprayed all over the beach and our equipment. Another such situation is when we are working on an assignment and we know for sure that rain will be soaking our equipment for more than half an hour at a time. We then take our precautions and wrap up our equipment as shown below.

We use waterproof bags manufactured by Kata in order to protect our equipment in really bad conditions, such as, for instance, stationary assignments in driving rain.

Even though the camera is wrapped up safely you can still access the camera with both hands. This type of bag can be tightened around your wrists to keep out water.

When our equipment is wrapped up safely we can get to work without any worries even if the rain is pouring down.
