TV2 VEJRET – Danish Television Weather Forecast

TTF have cooperated with TV2 VEJRET and STV on the production of four photo contests for Danish television. The contests ’Mit Vintervejr' (My Winter weather) and ’Mit sommervejr’ (My Summer Weather) were aired in 2007. In 2008, we managed a large-scale photo contest called 'Fang Foråret' (Catch the Spring), and in 2009 we will manage ‘Skyd det danske vejr’ (Shoot the Danish Weather).

Photography Advice on the ’TV2 Vejret’ Broadcast

Digital photography enjoys a greater popularity than ever before. This fact is stressed by the sheer number of photos that have been entered for the contests TTF has managed in cooperation with TV2 Vejret. For the most recent contest we were asked to judge almost 55,000 unique images. A time consuming task indeed.

Omtrent sådan føles det at blive filmet til landsdækkende TV2.

This is, more or less, what it feels like to be on national television.

An Exciting Way of Communicating Knowledge

Producing for television is not an easy thing to do. You are often subject to very strict deadlines. For instance, the length of a television feature rarely exceeds 120 seconds. In this short time, you may be asked to explain what characterises a quality photo and explain the way aperture, shutter speed, and depth-of-field interact. Often Danish weather complicates things. We did nearly all the shooting for our photo contest outdoors. This means that you rely completely on the capricious nature of weather in Denmark.

‘I have had the privilege of working with Caper Tybjerg on several occasions. It is always a pleasure. Casper is deeply concerned with the process of creating an interesting photo of the highest quality. He is a photographer who possesses great intelligence which means that besides creating perfect images Casper is extremely skilled with words and at communicating the world of photography. Casper’s photos have the ability to remain on your retina for a long time and he is a good subject for television.’ - Per Fløng, biologist and host of TV2 VEJRET.

Shoot Away!

In a series of national television broadcasts Caper shares his abundant knowledge with those interested in photography. He tells about efficient camera use, accessories, finding the right subjects, at what time of day light is optimal, and much more.

'I always enjoy talking about photography. Addressing as large an audience as is the case with a TV2 broadcast, only increases the excitement. I hope the TTF managed photo contests will make as many Danes as possible grab their cameras, brush up their methods, and start shooting,' says Casper.

The Referees

The panel of referees is composed of different members for different competitions. This ensures diversity in results and winners. Besides Casper Tybjerg the following have been on the panel: Palle Nielsen (managing director of photo chain-store CLICK, Peter Kirring (country manager for Nikon), Timm Vladimir (actor, televison host, and photographer), Morten Rygaard (photographer) and Per Fløng (host).
