Public Communications

Jette Tybjerg is an associate professor at the Aarhus School of Business where she teaches public communications.

This particular course was introduced in autumn 2005 as a new profile subject for the master’s degree at the Centre for Business Communications. It is a course with a very high theoretical level that has come about as a consequence of the Danish structural reform.

The course offers a theoretical and professional   introduction to strategic communications as it is applied in Danish municipalities, in Danish regions, and in the Danish government.

A significant number of the 98 newly restructured municipalities have seen the n

ecessity of setting up communications departments. Prior to the structural reform only some of the larger Danish municipalities had drawn up proper strategies for communications.

Different aspects of communication between the public sector and citizens are highlighted.

    •  Value based communications
    •  Municipal branding
    •  Politics of communications
    •  Planned communications and service communications
    •  Internal communications
    •  Change communications
    •  Crisis communications
    •  Digital communications
    •  Communications budgets
