TTF in EnglishWe have chosen to start the new year by informing you that every word of our homepage has been translated into English. Why? Read all about it here.Den 2. januar 2010
We live in exciting times. Technological advances have made it easy and inexpensive to publish and share information with people all over the world. At the same time, new technology has made photography as well as learning about photography much more accessible. It is the combination of these two developments that has motivated us to launch a full version of our homepage (www.ttf.dk) in English.
Everybody Is Welcome
The above image has been copied from our webstatistics. A Japanese guest has found our hompage, watched 11 pages and then disappeared again fast. Why? Probably because Danish isn't quite the favorite language of many Japanese citizens. (IP-adresses have been blurred to protect our guests privacy).
The task of translating In order to lift the serious task of translating the many, many, words of our homepage we have employed Thomas Falkenberg Svendsen, a Master’s Degree holder in English and history, on a project basis. Here is what he has to say about the project:
My educational background is diversified: I hold a Master’s Degree in English and history from the University of Aarhus as well as a BA in English and French business languages. I am also quite fluent in German. The title of my dissertation was: 'Identity and Mimicry in The Satanic Verses and Mimic Men'. You may think that writing a dissertation about the novels of Salman Rushdie and V.S. Naipaul is very different from translating for TTF. And you would be right. However, translating texts that are easily accessible but nevertheless informative and precise is quite a challenge. I have been very happy to work on this exciting project trying to convey the excitement, adventure, and professional expertise that TTF embodies. I have also enjoyed working in a company where challenges and responsibility go hand in hand. So far the result has been more than 92.000 words in English. I hope you will enjoy reading at least some of them.'
